The girls and I went to Stradbroke Island over the weekend for yet another day trip to the beach. It started out with an hour-long ride on the train to Cleveland, followed by a short trip on a shuttle bus to the ferry terminal and about a half hour ferry ride to Stradbroke. At Stradbroke itself, there was another 20 minute ride from the ferry terminal to Lookout point. All that travelling was worth it. The view took our breaths away.

The ocean extended into the horizon far wider than the sea at the Gold Coast does. The water was a perfect blue-green colour and was so clear, you could see the sand at the bottom.

The sky and the sea were different shades of blue, but met like a piece of artwork on a canvas. The surf was big and white and met with the golden brown sandy beaches that seemed to go on forever.

We made it to the beach and spent a couple of hours there. It was quiet, not crowded and nice. The surf wasn't as fun as the Gold Coast, but we appreciated the absence of a crowd.

We went looking for the Historical Museum and we found it, but we also found a sign that read "this is now a construction site" Hahahaha... So we went to the Art Museum instead, which was called the Art Zoo. It was the singlemost creepiest, scariest thing we had ever seen. It looked like a house out of a horror movie, overgrown with plants, with scary-looking art pieces scattered around the garden. The doorway was creepy enough. Notice the doll hanging from the door? Shudder. We were so freaked out, we made one round, dropped off $2 into the donation box and bolted.

We went to the War Memorial after. Peaceful, quiet and no scary dolls hanging off doorways. We walked back to the ferry terminal to wait for our ride back to the mainland. Aah... Straddie, Straddie, what a fun day we had at Straddie.
